Waterstreams produces biogas from residual water and waste streams.
Green gas is produced from this biogas at several locations. Both biogas is produced at the water treatment plants operated by Waterstromen and plants in which external residual streams are fermented to produce biogas.
Waterstromen operates a fermentation plant (BIR Lichtenvoorde) at its location in Lichtenvoorde. The plant processes industrial residual streams from third parties that are brought to the site by axle. These include put fats and residual streams from the catering industry or released in production processes of the chemical, pharmaceutical or food industry. The biogas is upgraded to green gas in a green gas plant.
Waterstreams also produces biogas in the industrial water treatment plants it operates through the anaerobic treatment of residual water. This biogas is delivered back to the companies that use it in their production process or the biogas is upgraded to green gas and injected into the natural gas grid.
