Industrial Water Purification Plant Vitelco Leather

The waste water from tannery Vitelco Leather is treated in the water purification plant. This installation is managed and owned by Waterstromen. The water is transported from the tannery, located in the center of Lichtenvoorde, to the water purification plant with a pressure pipeline of approx. 2 km (next to WWTP Lichtenvoorde). The water contains high concentrations of COD, nitrogen, sulfide, sulfate, chromium, salt and lime.

  • Sulfur reactor (production of elemental sulfur)
  • Partial nitrogen oxidation reactor
  • Anammox reactor for nitrogen removal
  • Biological desulfurization biogas
  • Use of biogas in CHP
  • Heat network: supply of heat to a.o. swimming pool and town hall
